Aqua Games is a selection of wet and crazy games down at the waterfront area. Most groups schedule Aqua Games to take place just before their swimming time. This activity generally lasts 30-45 minutes and includes 5-6 games.
Gym & Game Room
Groups can choose to either lead their own games in the full-sized gymnasium or just allow the kids to play in the gym and/or game room. Gym options include horizontal rock wall (must be supervised by Waukaway Staff), basketball, volleyball, frisbee, or other games that campers are free to invent. The game room includes ping-pong, air hockey, and foosball. Guests are also free to play a variety of board games on tables in the common area.
Staff Led Sports
Staff Led Sports is a variety of games and activities led by Waukaway staff. These games might be indoors or out, and can include Territory Ball, Dodgeball, Ultimate Frisbee, or any other games that the creative Waukaway staffers put together for the group.
Archery, Slingshots, Paintball, and Airsoft occur on the 4 target sport ranges. Target Sports are scheduled and charged by the hour with the choice of 2 sports. For a small extra fee, the Target Sports can be done in the evening as well.
Trails (Team Challenges)
The team challenges require trained staff and must be booked in advance of your retreat and incorporated into your schedule.
Team building activities are where participants experience physical success and recognize that the seemingly impossible or difficult is often quite possible. It is a way to teach character and life skills in a powerful and active manner. The purpose is to increase participants’ sense of self-confidence, increase mutual support within the group, physically experience God’s instruction, and learn to apply these principles to one’s life. These courses are not recommended for students below the 5th grade. We have two different courses to accomplish this task:
Trailblazer is one of two low ropes/challenge courses here at Waukaway Springs. It consists of a series team building/leadership training challenges that include both mental and physical challenges to the group. Most of these challenges have varying degrees of physical elements to them and require the group to work as a team.
Element Excursion is a series of challenges that require mentally challenging activities for the group. While not as physically challenging as Trailblazer, this course requires the group to work together to solve a problem that has been presented. Many of these challenges require the participants to think outside the box and rely on each other to solve the task.
No matter what your age, everybody loves to sit around a campfire, tell stories, and fellowship. In addition to worship or chatting around the campfire, guest can also enjoy a game of beach volleyball, 4-square, 9-square-in-the-air, and checkers and Uno on the picnic tables, all which are placed in well lit areas. We offer two options for campfire. Option one includes marshmallows and drink, in addition to the game areas listed above. Loaded Campfire includes s’mores and drink, as well as all the games listed above, and depending on the time of year, we will also put a movie on the projector.
Late night is a series of fun, exciting, and crazy games that are sure be fun for all ages. Groups are split into teams and compete against each other. These games range from relay style races to challenges that may include daringly eating something at the end for extra points. Some of these games include Lick-and-Stick (Involves sticking lifesavers to people’s faces), Mallow-Pine(Crazy relay with Marshmallows), Spam Carving (It is what it is), and more. This is a very fun event that can be done anytime of the day, not just late at night!!
